Last night a fire broke out in the vegetable market adjacent to the canal bank Satwari Chowk at around 2pm in the night under suspicious circumstances in which 16 rehries were completely burnt to ashes and the goods kept inside 3 shops were also burnt and shops were also damaged.
Early in the morning, soon after receiving the news, former MLA of Gandhi Nagar Raman Bhalla reached spot and took stock of the damage caused by the fire. Raman Bhalla talked to the victim hawkers and shopkeepers and encouraged them that they would get proper compensation for their loss by talking to the administration.
Bhalla on the occasion spoke to the SDM and the Tehsildar to visit spot to assess the loss so that these people should be helped as much as possible, because at least 100 families of this vegetable market have lost their only means of earning including hawkers.
