The 2 Day district-level mock exercise simulating earthquake, landslide, and other natural and man-made disasters concluded today at the University Campus Kishtwar.
The Mock Exercise was organized by the District Administration in collaboration with the 13 Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The two-day event aimed to enhance disaster preparedness, improve response capabilities of different stakeholders, and strengthen inter-departmental coordination across Kishtwar.
On the second day the mock exercise was held on Jammu University, Kishtwar Campus, where the participants witnessed live demonstrations of critical preventive measures for different disaster scenarios, including fire breakouts in houses, LPG cylinder explosions, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, and the effective use of fire extinguishers. The activities were designed to equip participants with practical skills and to increase awareness about disaster response.
Assistant Commandant NDRF, Javed Iqbal, emphasized the importance of individual efforts in preventing accidents and urged all attendees and the general public to exercise caution and follow safety protocols.
The event saw the active participation of Officers and community members, including Mohd. Rafie Naik Tehsildar MughalMaidan, Shafqat Ali Keen AD Food, Sajad Khan DYSP DAR, SDRF officers, NCC cadets, college students, the District SDRF team, and representatives from various departments.
This initiative reflects the district’s commitment to enhancing disaster resilience and ensuring community safety through coordinated and proactive measures.
