2 days training on JJ Act and Rules concluded in Jammu

Two days capacity building workshop on Jammu and Kashmir Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2013 and Rules 2014 organized by National Development Foundation in collaboration with Director ate of ICPS J&K Govt. with the funding support from the European Union concluded today at Tawi Conference Hall, Shakuntla Bhawan, Jammu. Justice Hasnain Masoodi Chairperson Selection Cum Oversight Committee inaugurated the workshop on 12th November while Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department Dr. Farooq Ahmed Lone was chief guest in the valedictory function. Mr. G.A. Sofi State Mission Director ICPS, Ms. Renuka Srinivasan Sr. Programme Manger Delegation of the European Union to India, Mr. Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus National Development Foundation / Member SCoC, Mrs. Arti Sharma Chief Functionary NDF, Ms. Neha Gandotra Chief Operating Officer NDF were present in both inaugural and valedictory function. . Advocate Anant Asthana and Mr. Raaj Mangal Prasad Former Chairperson CWC were the main resource persons.
The workshop was attended by around 90 participants including the Chairpersons and members of Juvenile Justice Boards and Child Welfare Committees, members of Special Juvenile Police Units, members of District Child Protection Units, representatives of Child Care Institutions and other Civil Society organizations. Ms. Shagun Manchanda conducted the stage.
During the two days workshop different sessions were conducted on Salient features of J&K JJ Act 2013 and Rules 2014, Identification and understanding of Juveniles in Conflict with Law, Procedures and processes involved in handling cases relating to Juvenile in conflict with law and role of Juvenile Justice Boards, Linking Juvenile in conflict with law with various allied system in restoration and rehabilitation, Identification and understanding of Children in need of care and protection, Procedures and processes involved in handling cases relating to children in need of care and protection and role of Child Welfare Committees, Quality standards of care and protection in CCIs as per Rules 2014, Linking CNCP with various allied system in restoration and rehabilitation, Records and documentation that need to be maintained by CWC, JJB, DCPU and CCI, Addressing challenges in effective implementation of JJ Act 2013 in J&K. Mr. G.A. Sofi, State Mission Director ICPS gave a detailed overview on the status of implementation of JJ Act and ICPS scheme in the state while Mr. Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus NDF brief the house about roles of various structures framed under ICPS. Dr. Farooq Ahmed Lone Secretary Social Welfare J&K Govt. in his valedictory address assured full support of administrative department in making juvenile justice a reality on ground. Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Chairperson SCoC, J&K Govt. cleared to the house that CWC is a statuary body which can intervene any where any time in case they find child in need of care and protection. He pressed for more coordination between Juvenile Justice Boards, Child Welfare Committees and District Child Protection Units to ensure children rights are not violated.
