The 24th death anniversary of Madr-e-Meharban Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah was solemnly observed in a program held at Udhampur. The event was attended by prominent members of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and various community leaders who paid tribute to the enduring legacy of Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah.
Sunil Verma, District President JKNC Udhampur, highlighted the significant contributions of Madr-e-Meharban towards female literacy and the politico-economic empowerment of the people, particularly women and the underprivileged sections of society, regardless of caste, creed, color, or religion. He emphasized that her efforts have left a lasting impact on the socio-political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah worked tirelessly to uplift the socio-economic status of women and the downtrodden. Her relentless pursuit of female literacy and empowerment has laid a strong foundation for the progress and development of our society,” said Verma. “Her role in the socio-political empowerment of people, especially in promoting female literacy, will continue to inspire and guide us towards a brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir.”
The program saw the participation of several distinguished personalities, including Savitry Devi, District President SC Cell; Radhey Rani, Block President Women Cell; Rita Devi, Block Vice President; and Simran Devi, District Additional Secretary Women Cell. They collectively acknowledged the monumental work of Madr-e-Meharban and pledged to carry forward her mission of social justice and empowerment.
Other notable attendees included Chaudhary Abdul Rashid, District Secretary; Capt. Rattan Singh, Block President; Akash Verma, Sudesh Kumar, Amar Nath, Block President Zib Thathi, Ch. Shamas Din and Ch. Sattu Sadiq Mohd.
