A three days training programme on role of Urban Local Bodies in community based Disaster Management was organized from 16th to 18th September, 2019 at J&K IMPARD, Jammu. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Reva Sharma, Director trainings, IMPARD, Jammu. The course Coordinator Ms. Manju Kapoor briefed the participants about the training programme which was based on following objectives.
The programme was attended by Hon’ble Mayor, Jammu, Hon’ble Councillors from JMC and Chairman, Presidents and Vice Presidents from Urban Local Bodies, Jammu. The main focus of the training programme was on Disaster Management and its implementation and role of Civil Defence in Disaster Management. Practical demonstrations from Civil Defence during the programme were held to make the participants familiar with the various types of Disaster, their preparedness and Rescue Operation.
Various do’s and don’t’s for Disasters Management were demonstrated by Civil Defence Jammu team. Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Ms. Shashi Thakur, Chief Warden Paramjeet Kumar, Dignitaries including SDM, R.S Pura, Mr. Jagdish Singh, Mr. Anil Padha, Former Secretay Red Cross and Mr. Sanjeev Arora, Expert Disaster Management and Mr. Alok Nanda Expert Disaster Management, also interacted with the participants. Mayor, Jammu Shri Chander Mohan Gupta, Chief Guest of the occasion distributed certificates among the participants Ms. Manju Kapoor, Course Coordinator presented vote of thanks.
