Udhampur, June 5:
Three people were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Wednesday, officials said. The accident occurred in the Barrian area here when a speeding van skidded off the road and overturned, they said. One person died on the spot, while seven others were rushed to a hospital with injuries, the officials said. Later, two more succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment, they added. Meanwhile, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla along with SSP, Rajiv Omparkash Pandey today visited the District Hospital (DH) and Military Hospital Udhampur to take stock of medicare facilities being extended to the persons injured in a Matador accident which occurred at Barrian in Udhampur district here today morning. He enquired about well being of the injured and instructed the doctors to provide them best possible treatment. He said that free treatment would be extended to them for their fast recovery. The DDC also expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.
