3rd round of Election Training for Polling Staff held in Kupwara district

In preparation for the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024, a comprehensive 3rd round of training session was today organized for polling staff in all the six assembly segments of the Kupwara district.
The training aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the electoral process, was organized under the Supervision of District Election Officer (DEO) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan and concerned ROs of the assembly constituencies.
The election training was conducted at different venues including Town Hall Kupwara, GDC Kupwara, Environment Hall Handwara, Townhall Handwara and Mini-Secretariat Tangdar. The training focused on enlightening officers and officials about their pivotal roles and responsibilities during polling at their designated stations.
The officers were also briefed extensively on the Model Code of Conduct, emphasizing adherence to ethical and legal guidelines throughout the election period.
A significant highlight of the training was the detailed discussion on facilitating voting for diverse groups of voters. Special attention was given to procedures for accommodating individuals such as Persons with Disabilities (PWD), elderly, and other groups requiring specific assistance.
Furthermore, to equip the polling officers with practical skills, demonstrations on the operation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) was conducted where DLMTs and AC level MTs provided comprehensive training on key aspects of EVM operation, common issues faced at polling booths, and effective management of the polling process.
The trainers also focused on troubleshooting procedures and the importance of maintaining transparency and accuracy in the electoral process.
The training program ensured that all poll staff were well-prepared to handle any potential challenges on Election Day, contributing to the efficient and transparent conduct of the electoral process in all the six assembly constituencies of Kupwara district.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Nodal Officer training, Sameer Jan highlighted the significance of such training sessions in ensuring the credibility and transparency of elections. He emphasized the critical role of polling officers in upholding the democratic process and urged them to execute their duties diligently.
