5th group of Tawi Trekkers leave for Moungri

JAMMU, June 06:
The fifth group of Tawi Trekkers J&K, the pioneer trekking club of J&K, comprising 38 students of MHAC School, Nagbani, today left for Moungri under the supervision of Himani Choudhary, a senior member of the club, to participate in the J&K Himalayan Trekking Programme being organised by the club for school students in the age group of 10 to 14 years.
Three teachers of the school, M L Dogra, a very senior trekker and organiser, Savitri and Nancy Jamwal also accompanied the exclusively girls group.
The trekkers were flagged off jointly by Co-chairman of Tawi Trekkers, Zorawar Singh Jamwal and Principal of MHAC School, Sween Puri in the presence of president and secretary of Tawi Trekkers, Ram Khajuria and Shawetica Khajuria respectively.
A large number of members of the club and parents of the participants gave trekkers a warm send off.
With this group the total participation in the ongoing Himalayan Trekking Programme has gone up to 229 including 21 teachers.
Meanwhile, the adventure activities at Moungri were in full swing with budding trekkers enjoying trekking, rock climbing, artificial river crossing and other thrills in the serene surroundings of the camp.
It may be mentioned here that Tawi Trekkers J&K is a voluntary, non profit making social service and adventure organisation run by dedicated young boys and girls whose only aim is to spread the spirit of adventure and love of nature among all strata of society without distinction of colour, caste, class or creed.
