JAMMU, Sept 10:
Over 600 children received scholarship during the Six day carnival, concluded by the Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust. Around 85 percent of the children were girls from rural and border areas.
Mr.Jitpal Saini and Mrs. Tejinder Saini were the guests of honor on the occasion.
They told the students about the benefits of education and advised them to make full use of scholarship and support of the Trust.
They lauded the excellent work of HBET.
Besides scholarship distribution, the students of classes 1st to 10th participated in assessment tests. Psychology majors from University of Jammu provided counseling support.
HBET has the mission to change lives of needy children through literacy support programs.
They have been providing scholarships and conducting various other children educational schemes for the past 22 years.
The children and parents came from villages Hiranagar, Chak, Chakroi, Arnia, Rattian, Doomi, Gajansoo, R.S Pura, Birpur, Rehian, Jourian, Dansal, Kangrail, Gurah Slathia, Ghou Manhasan, Saruinsar, Kandyal, etc. Selection tests for new students were also conducted of classes 1st to 3rd. Parents of needy and meritorious students of Government schools can apply to the Trust for scholarship. Selection is done as per the rules of the Trust.
