Over 600 children received scholarship during the five day carnival, concluded by Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust Eighty percent of the children were girls from rural and border areas.
Mr Johny William, IPS was the chief guest on the occasion. He told the students about the benefits of education and advised them to make full use of scholarship and support of the Trust. He lauded the excellent work of HBET. Mr William also encouraged the children to go for career in police and defence forces which are offering excellent prospects for girls.
Besides scholarship distribution, the students of classes 1st to 10th participated in assessment tests. Psychology majors from University of Jammu provided counseling support.
HBET has the mission to change lives of needy children through literacy support programs. They have been providing scholarships and conducting various other children educational schemes since 1997.
The children and parents came from villages like Chak, Chakrohi, Arnia, Hiranagar, Rattian, Doomi, Gajansoo, R.S Pura, Birpur, Rehian, Jourian, Dansal, Kangrail, Gurah Slathia, Ghou Manhasan, Saruinsar, Kandyal, etc.
Selection tests were also conducted for new students of classes 1st to 3rd. Parents of needy and meritorious students of Government schools can apply to the Trust for scholarship. Selection is done as per the rules of the Trust based on merit & need.
