8 crore women and BPL families benefitted under PMUY

Pardhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is largest scheme to provide clean cooking fuel benefitting 8 crore women and BPL families directly which was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on May 01, 2016 in Balia, UP. Total target is to provide 8 crore connections with total expenditure of Rs 12800 crore by 2021.
Under this scheme, 5.86 crore connections have already been released in the last four and half years. In district Jammu, Industry has released 57985 connections under said scheme and figure is expected to rise in coming time so that every house hold of district gets clean cooking fuel.
Under said scheme, the eligible beneficiaries can be identified from following criteria: SECC list, SC/ST households, beneficiaries of PMAY (GRAMIN), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Forest dwellers, Most Backward castes (MBC), tea and Ex-tea Garden tribes, people residing in islands/river islands, all other poor households irrespective of caste, religion etc.
