The meeting was presided over by the PCC Chief Shri Ghulam Ahmed Mir and attended by several senior leaders. The meeting discussed the latest political situation in the state besides the organizational affairs of the party.
The meeting discussed the current issues confronting the people including the acute water and power crisis in most parts of Jammu province. Detailed deliberations were held to activate the organizational set up to highlight issues of people in order to make the administration responsive to the needs of the people, besides making the BJP government at the centre accountable to deliver on the tall promises made to the people from time to time.
The meeting welcomed the inclusion of IB residents in the existing 3% reservation to LOC residents, however it viewed that the reservation quota should have been enhanced to six 6% besides provision of plots at safe zones as promised to them from time to time.
The meeting took stock of the issue of 73rd & 74th amendment to PRIs and said that all relevant provisions already stand extended to the state by NC-Congress government as a result a three tier system with Finance and Independent election commission was laid down in the law but the PDP-BJP government tried to weaken and reverse the same. Even most important Finance Commission was not set up so far.
It demanded full enforcement of the amended law, of March 2014 and setup remaining tiers of PRIs.
The meeting also sought implementation of full package to the refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 as recommended for the first time by Congress-NC government including financial package of minimum Rs. 25 lakh per family and reservation for their wards in para forces and technical course etc.
Since the BJP has the full mandate at the centre, it should deliver on all its important commitments to the people of state, especially Jammu region. The meeting lashed out the centre government for totally ignoring state in the budget yesterday. The Jammu-Poonch Railway project which was initiated by UPA government on the initiative of Shri Rahul Gandhi and a vital link of strategic importance but has not seen the light of the day even after more than five years, which is a matter of great concern.
The meeting said that BJP can’t take the people of the region for a ride after seeking huge mandate on various important commitments but the very first budget of NDA-II is totally disappointing for the people of the state.
The meeting decided to gear up series of activities to reach out to the people at the grass root level and highlight the problems of common people.
The meeting unanimously lauded dynamic leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi and said that he continues to be our unquestionable leader , since he has led the party in a bold and fearless manner at the most crucial period and enjoys the confidence of the entire rank and file of the party throughout the length and breadth of the country.
