Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali might have just found his Sahir Ludhianvi and Amrita Pritam in actors Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu, respectively. The director has been wanting to begin his work on the biopic for long now. A daily has now learnt that SLB has finally zeroed in on the Manmarziyaan couple after much research. While no final announcement has been made yet, the sources close to the development suggest that both Junior Bachchan and the Badla star have indeed given their nod to star in the anticipated film.
As reported by Mumbai Mirror, Bhansali is supposed to start shooting for the yet-to-be-titled film around October this year. The daily quoted the source revealing, “Both Abhishek and Taapsee have loved the story and are looking forward to collaborating again.
However, they are yet to sign on the dotted line. Once the formalities are locked, they will begin prep.”
It should be noted that big names including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Ch0pra were rumoured to have been approached for the film. In fact, actor Irrfan Khan went on to record to say that he would love to play the character because he thinks he understands Sahir Ludhianvi, his life, and his work in the best way possible.
The daily had recently quoted Bhansali talking about the challenges his director might face while working on the biopic. He called a ‘difficult’ film and said, “Sahir saab was one of our most talented poet-lyricists, his verses are still inspiring. To being them back through his love story will be beautiful but also a huge responsibility. It’s a difficult film for the writer-director (Jasmeet Reen) too so I don’t want to be in a hurry but give it the darza it deserves.”
Meanwhile, SLB’s next directorial has him reuniting with actor Salman Khan after a hiatus of 20 years. The film, which has been titled has Inshallah, also features Alia Bhatt in the lead. Reportedly, it’s a love story set in parts of Europe and UK. The team has marked Eid 2020 as the film’s release date.
