Activist and Veteran Hockey Players levelled charges of Misappropriation of funds against Hockey J&K and Sports Council

SRINAGAR, JAN 18:
Jammu. Jan 19 : Today while addressing the Press Conference S Balvinder Singh RTI activist along with various Veteran Hockey Players & Hockey Lovers including S Iqbal Singh, S Manjeet Singh, S Harbans Singh, S Ravinder Singh, S Waryam Singh, S Janak Singh, S Sharanjit Singh, S Beant Singh leveled serious allegation of Corruption and misappropriation of funds against Hockey J&K. .Mr Singh said that he has received year wise detail of funds released by Sports Council to Hockey J&K & detail of Expenditure thereof, but Sports Council never bothered to get the account audited and not/. able to trace any misappropriation of funds the reasons better known to the Sports Council. Balvinder said when he throughly checked the information, consisting of more than 3000 pages, received under RTI, he found major voilation and misuse of funds where Hockey J&K spent more than 1,50,000 One lac fifty, out of Rs 11,10,242 provided by sports Council in the year 2017-18, on its organizational election held at Srinagar on 10.10.2017 for which FIR shoud be registered against the office bearers of Hockey J&K.All Vetran Hockey players present there said that Chief Sports officer of J&K Sports Council after receiving various written complaints from Hockey players for giving thenm refreshment of Rs 20 only, consisting of two eggs and two bananas, whereas Hockey J&K got Rs 100 per player per day from Sports Council, and complaints from various clubs of different districts for not giving them a single penny for organizing Hockey tournament in thie respective Districts and also a complaint of Sh Romal Singh the Then Gen Secretary Hockey J&K. The Chief Sports officer on 30.06.2017, vide letter No.SC/79/2986, appointed Ranjit Kalra, Member Sports Council, to Enquire into these allegations and was asked to furnish confidential report withing 15 days. Ranjit Kalra submitted the report to the then Sectretary Sports Council Sh Wahid Parrey.To get favour from the political dispensation and to defend themselves from any action by the sports council on the findings of Ranjit Kalra reprt, S Rajinder Singh Kuku, who is all in all iof Hockey J&K and has been using his residential adderres as that of Hockey J&K’s official address for the last twenty years, on 10.07.2017, without conducting election, installed Kanta Andotra as acting President of Hockey J&K, so that he can use the influence of Ch Lal Singh (Caninet minister) to hush up the cases and enquiries pending against Hockey J&K and ultimately succeeded in his motive. Mr Wahid parrey instead of making the report public and taking any action put the whole matter under carpet for the reason best known to him. Singh further said that Hockey J&K has miserably failed to produce any National Level player during the last 15 years and also failed to submit performance report of both men and women Sr & Junior National tourments played during the last five years, and despite their unsatisfactorily perfomance sports council as well as Hockey India continously releasing huge funds to Hockey J&K. So all Vetran players activist and hockey lovers S Manjit Singh, S Rajinder Singh, S. Sudan, S T. P Singh, S Jaswinder Singh urged upon Lt Governor Sh Sinha Sahib, Sh Farooq Khan Advisor to Lt Governor keeping in view of the above stated facts, to kindly direct sports council to de-affiliate Hockey J&K for misappropriation of funds & intiate high level inquiry and register an FIR against the office bearer of Hockey J&K. Balvinder also urged upon UT Administration to direct ACB or CBI to investigate the functioning of all Sports Association of JK .
