Calling the NDA “negative,” Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of stealing the reservations of backward class, Dalits and tribes, adding that after June 4, politics of “negativity” will be over.
“They (BJP) stole the reservation of backward class, Dalits and tribes…The ‘P’ in PDA means Purvanchal, progressive; NDA is negative…They do negative politics….The time of doing negative politics is over…They are against social justice, reservation, caste census, the happiness of farmers….They not only want to take the nation backward but also put the people of the country in poverty,” Akhilesh Yadav told reporters on Monday.He exuded confidence in INDIA bloc of winning the Lok Sabha elections and said that the politics of negativity will be over after June 4.
“After June 4, the cabinet will change, the media circle will change, happy days will come and the day of freedom of the press will also come. The politics of negativity will be over after June 4,” he added.
Uttar Pradesh is voting in all the seven phases of the Lok Sabha polls, the last phase of which is scheduled on Saturday.The Congress is fighting the polls in partnership with the Samajwadi Party in the state and have a seat-sharing agreement with each other.
As per the seat agreement between the Samajwadi Party and Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Congress is contesting on 17 seats and the Samajwadi Party has the remaining 63 seats in the electorally crucial state.
In the 2019 general elections, the BJP emerged triumphant, securing 62 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, supplemented by two seats clinched by its ally Apna Dal (S). Mayawati’s BSP managed to secure 10 seats, while Akhilesh Yadav’s SP garnered five. Conversely, the Congress party secured only one seat.
The election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases starting April 19. The counting of the votes will be held on June 4.
