Srinagar, Feb 16:
After morning fog disrupted normal life on Sunday, weather turned pleasant as the day progressed in the Kashmir valley, where dry spell will continue during the next 72 hours. However, a fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is likely to hit the region on February 19 which could result in scattered and isolated rain or snow till February 22, a Met department spokesman said. Dense fog in the morning for several hours disrupted normal life, including vehicular movement. Drivers were seen plying their vehicles with headlights on. However, due to Sunday, majority people remain indoor. The sun finally came behind the clouds at 1015 hrs and weather turned pleasant, much to the delight of people who were later seen basking in the sun in parks and gardens though there are no flowers this time. Fog has however, not affected air traffic and train service, officials said. Met spokesman said weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours.

There will be no change during the subsequent two days, he said. He said the maximum temperature was above normal on Saturday while the minimum temperature below normal at most places in the valley, where world famous ski resort of Gulmarg was coldest at minus 5 degree. People continued to suffer in Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh, where water bodies remained frozen. Drass was coldest in Ladakh at minus 18.1 degree while at border town of Kargil recorded minus 15.7 degree and Leh minus 4.3 degree minimum temperature. Met spokesman said the sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 7 degree and minus 10 degree respectively at Leh during the next 24 hours.
Gulmarg was coldest at minus 5 degree minimum temperature in the valley followed by famed health resort of Pahalgam minus 3.9 degree.
The minimum temperature remained below normal in Srinagar while the maximum temperature was above normal. It was minus 0.1 degree minimum temperature at Srinagar which was 1.1 degree below normal.
He said the sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures will be 13 degree and 3 degree respectively in Srinagar during the next 24 hours.
