District Development Council (DDC) member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony criticized the elected representatives of RS Pura for depriving the people with curtailment of 300 quintals of PDS ration per month. The DDC member said that about 300 quintals of PDS ration were curtailed every month against allotted quota of 6000 quintals for Miran Sahib, RS Pura, Suchetgarh and Chakroi. “It’s very unfortunate that the public representatives of these areas were unaware of that due to which the general public has faced severe hardships” Tony said while interacting with a delegation of Ration dealers of the areas who called on him to discuss this serious issue.
The visiting delegation apprised the DDC member about the whole issue and urged him to resolve this issue on priority basis as there is serious chaos among the people about this curtailment.
The DDC member took up the matter with Commissioner Secretary, FCS&CA Department, Simrandeep Singh and narrated him the whole nexus, urging him to address this serious issue at the earliest. Sensing the seriousness of the matter, Simrandeep passed direction on the spot and asked officials to stop the practice of ration curtailment. He also pulled up the officials, who were involved in this and warned them of dire consequences.
Tony said that people have been facing hardships because many of these people’s issues are not addressed so far due to the callous attitude adopted by the previous regimes. He said that during the election campaign of DDCs, the people apprised Tony about this serious issue and at that time he had assured that for resolve this issue if he voted to power. Tony also appealed to Simrandeep Singh to restore ration quota for army personnel who served the country throughout their life. He said it’s the responsibility of the government to provide all sorts of facilities to the army personnel after their post retirement life. He also urged the Secretary FCS&CA to restore kerosene supply to the Suchetgarh area as the people of the area are facing severe problems due to non-available kerosene oil.
The DDC member said that he had fulfilled his commitment by stopping curtailment of government ration and warned for stoppage of such practices.
Expressing concern over the problems being faced by the people, Tony assured the villagers that the grievances will be addressed at the earliest. He said that he will continue to fight for the issue of people of far flung areas and border residents. He further said that he is committed for the development and will make all possible efforts for the upliftment of villagers.
