‘Agniveers are not just soldiers but also defenders of nation’s sovereignty’: CDS

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Monday visited the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre here to address Agniveers, a group of young individuals dedicated to the values of service and citizenship as they embark on their military careers.
General Chauhan’s speech, marked by wisdom, conviction, and foresight, resonated deeply with the Agniveers, setting the stage for their transformative journey ahead.
He emphasised the noble purpose of military service and its crucial role within the military framework, highlighting that ‘Agniveers are not just soldiers but also leaders, innovators, and defenders of the nation’s sovereignty’.
Discussing the evolving nature of warfare, the CDS underscored the complexity and unpredictability of future conflicts, including cyber warfare, artificial intelligence, and asymmetric threats, which are now integral to the battlefield.
He spoke about the importance of technology integration and continuous learning, stressing the need for an innovative approach to combat alongside stay updated with the latest advancements.
