Director Animal Husbandry Jammu in her address spoke about how the use of Sex-Sorted Semen technology in livestock sector shall prove a game changer by not only increasing the production of superior quality female calves leading to enhanced milk production but also by limiting stray male cattle population as with this technological intervention the probability of getting only female calves is around 90 percent. The director further said that earlier the sexed semen technology was costly and not available to our farmers at an affordable rate but now it is being highly subsidized by the government and its cost has come down to only Rs 250 per dose.
