Facilitated by the Jammu and Kashmir Kho-Kho Association, Akhnoor has become third place after Gadigarh (Jammu) and Bana Singh Stadium (R S Pura) to get training facility in the indigenous sport.The first of its kind training centre in Akhnoor Tehsil has been opened by one of the top Kho-Kho Clubs of J&K, the NIS Club at the campus of Calliope College. The training sessions are supervised by the senior players from the NIS Club, Shubham, Sahil, Sandeep and Rohit under the guidance of qualified coach, Dheeraj Sharma.Since the training facility is meant only for boys, the Club explores possibilities to start girls coaching classes in near future.Meanwhile, the NIS Club expressed gratitude to the Association president, Manmeet Singh, who helped the Club get the training facility. The Club also thanked Association senior vice president and treasurer of KKFI and JKOA, B S Tirthi for giving Kho-Kho much needed fillip. Important to mention here that top clubs of J&K have started home and away matches in the recent past to provide exposure to the budding talent.
