Alia Bhatt is a super close to both her parents. We’ve noticed how she is her happiest best when around them. At several talk shows and interviews too, Alia has regarded her parents very highly. However, just recently she stated that she wouldn’t want her husband to be like her father. No, not in a negative connotation! In a recent interview with Bombay Times, the candid Alia and her Badrinath Ki Dulhania co-star Varun Dhawan shed light on a lot of things such as relationships, their camaraderie and more. So while they spoke about how people look for a reflection of their parents in their partners, Alia mentioned how she wouldn’t want her husband to be like her father. But yes, she has a very interesting reason behind the statement.
She said, “My father is great and I love him, but I don’t want his qualities in my husband. He’s too learned and fabulous as a person. We’ve become friends now and we talk a lot to each other, but one Mahesh Bhatt is enough in my life. I really can’t have two.” Although, she did mention, “Somehow, we all do, don’t we? We end up seeking our parent’s qualities in our partners. For me, respect is very important in a relationship, it equals to trust and love. Trust is built on respect and love is built on a balance of both.”
Even Varun agreed with her point as he stated, “I want to tell all the boys that a woman is looking for respect from you more than anything else. A woman wants you to respect her for who she is, what she does and where she comes from. That is a must for any relationship, especially the ones we develop on our own. And girls, it’s vice versa.
