In an impressive and colorful function organised here at GDC Ramnagar, in connection with the ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’ wherein a symposium was organised on the life and contribution of Dr.B. R. Ambedkar (The Architect of our Constitution) in Modern India MLA Ramnagar R. S. Pathania was the Chief-Guest on the occasion.
Pertinently Central Govt. has launched the ambitious ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’ – a village self-governance campaign to promote social harmony, reach out to the rural households, enroll in new initiatives and re-emphasise national priority of cleanliness and strengthen panchayat raj institutions.This program was launched on 14th of April-The Birth Anniversary of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar also celebrated as “Social Equality Day”
Speaking on the occassion after paying floral tributes to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and installing his photograph in the Edu-Sat Hall of the College, Mr Pathania said that Baba Sahib was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who stimulated the Dalit Buddhist Movement and campaigned against social discrimination against Untouchables and also supported the rights of women and labor.
Making a pointed reference to certain vested interests who are out and out to distort Ambedkar’s philosphy for their political gains.
He said that Dr. Ambedkar laid thrust on the universal, holistic and cosmopolitan survival of Indian society and the State.Baba Sahib had dreamt of a caste- free, women empowerment and emancipation and pro-labor friendly India and we all should strive towards holistic achievement of the same.
In his address Mr Pathania emphasised upon the importance of Cleanliness in daily lives. Mr Pathania stressed upon the public to make the Open Defaecation Free (ODF) mission a success.
Resource persons drawn from ICDS, RDD, Agriculture and other allied departments threw light on the cleanliness and stressed upon the public to make Swaach Bharat Mission a success.
