The doctor’s lifeless body, bearing multiple injuries, was discovered on August 9 at a government teaching hospital, sending shockwaves through the nation.In her post, Ameesha Patel demanded that rapists be shot dead, reflecting the growing frustration and anger among the public regarding such heinous crimes. She shared a picture of VC Sajjanar, an IPS officer known for his swift action in the 2019 Hyderabad rape case, where he led an encounter that resulted in the death of the accused rapists within a week of the crime.Ameesha wrote, “He is the IPS who shot the rapist in the Hyderabad doctor rape case. First time in Indian history, the rapist was shot by the police within one week.”The murder of the trainee doctor in Kolkata has reignited the conversation around women’s safety in India and the adequacy of the justice system in dealing with sexual violence.
