Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu Model Institute of Education (MIET) and Government Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar won their respective matches to advance in the inter-college men’s Table Tennis competitions of University of Jammu (JU), organised by the Department of Sports, JU, at its indoor facility on the campus, here today.
Competition in other two events of men’s Volleyball and Kabaddi also got underway simultaneously on the campus, here.
Among those present were Director Sports and Physical Education, Dr Dawood Iqbal Baba, Jatinder Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Sudesh Bhagat, Dr Balwinder Singh, Sanjeev Jamwal, Charanjeet Singh and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
The Results: GMC bt GDC Paloura 3-0; MIET beat MAM College 3-0; GDC Ram Nagar beat GDC Kathua 3-2. Women: The GCW Udhampur beat GCW Parade 3-0.
Today’s matches officiated by the technical penal including Rekha Ratra, Sanjeev Sharma, Gourav Sharma, Ankit Sharma, Gourav Raina.
VOLLEYBALL: In the inter-college men’s competitions, the preliminary round remained one-sided affair with winning teams making it in straight sets at Volleyball courts on the JU Campus today. The technical penal inn today’s matches comprised Amit Sharma, Mulkhraj, Amarjeet Singh, Manik Nargotra, Abneet Sharma, Rahul Bansh and Bhavana Sharma.
The Results: GDC Ramban beat IMS Patoli 2-0; GDC Khilotrain beat MBS College 2-0; GDC Poonch beat Dogra Degree College 2-0; GDC Khour beat GDC Nowshera 2-0; GDC Kathua beat GDC Basohli 2-0; GGM Science College beat GDC Bani 2-0.
KABADDI: Annual inter-college men’s Kabaddi tournament witnessed preliminary round of the competition of the opening day at the Gymnasium on the campus today. Prominent among the winners were GDC Samba, GDC Kathua and GDC Bhaderwah while losers included GGM Science College, Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) and GDC Basholi. The matches officiated by the technical penal comprising Ajay Gupta, Anil Sharma, Ankush Gupta, Keshav Singh, Amandeep Singh and Gagan Kumar.
The Results: GDC, Paloura beat GDC, Surankot 17 (48-29) pts; GDC, Samba beat GCET 34 (50-16) pts; GDC, Hiranagar beat YCET 36 (52-16) pts; GDC, Kathua beat GDC Basholi 42 (72-30) pts; GDC, Khour beat GGM Science College 20 (47-21) pts; GDC Ramban beat Bhaskar Degree College 35 (49-14) pts; GDC Bhaderwah beat GDC Nowshera 28 (35-07) pts.
