JAMMU, Apr 22:
Annual inter-school (indoor) competitions of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) got underway with district level activity of Jammu taking place at Indoor Complex MA Stadium in two age groups under-14 and under-17.
The opening day witnessed competition in boys’ category in the disciplines of Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Speedball, Kick Boxing and Weightlifting.
Accompanied by the District officer (Jammu), Chanchal Kour, Director General of DYSS, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman visited the venue and interacted with the participants as also the technical penal and the allied staff.
As per the reports reaching here, around 430 boys registered themselves across various events.

SPEED BALL: Boys: Under-14: Relay: SD Tara Puri School, 1st; Banyan International School, 2nd. Doubles: Jammu Sanskriti School, 1st; New Era Environmental School, 2nd. Singles: DPS Jammu, 1st; Maha Rishi Vidya Mandir, 2nd. Slow: SD Tara Puri, 1st and Banyan International, 2nd.
CHESS: Under-14: Anuradha Public School beat Maharishi Vidya Mandir 3-1;
APS Domana drew MHAC Nagbani 1-1; APS Miran Sahib beat MIER Jammu 4-0;
BSF Paloura drew SOS Herman 1-1; GD Goenka beat St. Xavier Barnai 4-0.
BADMINTON: Heritage School beat KC International 2-0; KC Public School beat APS Domana 2-1; DPS Jammu beat SOS Herman 2-0; St. Xavier beat Birla Open Mind 2-0; JKPS beat MIER Kirpind 2-0; APS Nagrota beat MIER Jammu 2-0.
KICK BOXING: Boys: Under-17: 50 Kg: Karan Ghole, BSK Domana, 1st; Vasu Dev Singh, Manik Public School, 2nd. 55 kg: Faheem Mushtaq, Model Academy, Ist and Ritik Kumar, Manik Public School, 2nd.
