The Apex Body of SPARSH (Sensitization, Prevention, and Redressal of Sexual Harassment), Cluster University of Jammu, under the patronage of Prof. K. S. Chandrasekar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu, and the guidance of Chairperson ABS, Dr. Vandana Khajuria, organized a special lecture on the theme “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment” to mark the celebration of International Women’s Day 2025 at GGM Science College, Jammu.The event was graced by Ms. Ankur Mahajan (JKAS), Registrar, Cluster University of Jammu, as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Vishav Raksha, Head, Department of Sociology, University of Jammu, was the esteemed guest speaker. This special lecture served as the culmination of a week-long celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, during which various activities such as signature campaigns, poster making, symposiums, and slogan writing competitions were conducted across the constituent colleges and schools of the university. The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Vandana Khajuria, who formally welcomed the guests and introduced the audience to the objectives of the Apex Body of SPARSH, highlighting its role in fostering awareness and ensuring a safe and inclusive educational environment. As part of the cultural segment, two students from GGM Science College, Sumeet Kumar and Mohd. Ayoub Jan, presented self-composed poems on the theme of women empowerment, adding a creative and inspirational touch to the event.In her insightful lecture, Prof. Vishav Raksha emphasized the Gender Positive Initiative in Higher Education and underscored the need for both gender equality and gender equity. She encouraged students to become active agents of change, fostering a more just and equal society.
