Apni Party today took out a protest rally at Vijaypur in Samba District, demanding restoration of statehood, before the holding of proposed assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
The protest was led by Party’s Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh.
During the protest march, the party leaders were carrying placards demanding restoration of statehood before the holding of proposed elections for the legislative assembly of Jammu and Kashmir.
The protesting party leaders shouted slogans for the restoration of democratic system with full empowerment.
While speaking on the occasion, the Former Minister raised alarm over the attitude of the Central Govt towards the burning issues of the Jammuities.
He said that the Central Govt with the convenience of the administration in Jammu and Kashmir apparently planned to continue the LG rule as it granted him more powers that is a violation of rights of the democratically elected institutions. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have never seen such a situation in the past where they were left to the mercy of God, and their elected Govt was made dependent upon the LG J&K, who takes directions from Delhi,” he added.
He said that the Apni Party stands firmly against the autocratic rule that does not value the sentiments of the people and gives more weight to the outsiders and protects them.
“The dissent is growing among the people in Jammu plains against the Central Govt’s policies that ignores the sentiments of the people, and has not restored the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated amid the sloganeering of the party leaders.
He said that “Jammu people are nationalist, and they have given their lives defending the borders of the country internally as well as externally. Hence, it is imperative for the Govt to sense the alarming situation and take a decision that is suitable for the people of both regions by granting statehood with all powers to an elected Govt in J&K.”
Meanwhile, other leaders of the party also addressed the protest demonstration which concluded peacefully.
