An Army Captain was martyred and a terrorist has been neutralised in the ongoing gunfight in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.
Army’s White Knight Corps posted on X stating, “one #terrorist has been neutralised in the ongoing operation.
One AK 47 has been recovered in addition to the M4 rifle.”
“Intermittent exchange of firing continues as the operations are ongoing,” said Army.
Earlier, Army said that all ranks of #WhiteKnightCorps salute the supreme #sacrifice of #Braveheart Capt Deepak Singh who succumbed to his injuries.”
“WhiteKnightCorps offers deepest condolences and stands firm with the bereaved family in this hour of grief,” it posted on X.
In the morning, security Forces recovered one M4 rifle and other war like stores from the site of gunfight, underway with terrorists in the woods of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by Indian Army and J&K Police was launched in Akar Forest near Patnitop,” White Knight Corps posted on X.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda, Javed Iqbal said that the operation is in progress and the further details will be shared accordingly. One terrorist was killed by security forces during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s (J-K) Doda district on Wednesday.
“One terrorist has been neutralised in the ongoing operation. One AK 47 has been recovered in addition to the M4 rifle. Intermittent exchange of firing continues as the operations are ongoing,” White Knight Corps said.
Additional Director General of Police Anand Jain visited Doda as the Indian Army and J-K Police continued their search operation in the area.
An Indian Army captain also lost his life while leading a search operation during the encounter.
The operation, which began on Tuesday in the Assar area, is still in progress. The search operation was launched by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police after the encounter started.
According to Defence officials, “A Captain of the Indian Army from the 48 Rashtriya Rifles was killed in action during the ongoing Op Assar in Doda district.” The officer, identified as Captain Deepak Singh, lost his life while leading a search party during the operation.
The Indian Army on Wednesday offered its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Captain Deepak Singh, who lost his life during the encounter.
Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh convened an important meeting on the “rising” terror-related incidents in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per officials, Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Director General of Military Operations-Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma and heads of the security-related agencies were present in the meeting. The meeting was held at South Block. The development comes a day ahead of Independence Day on August 15.
Earlier on August 10, at least two soldiers and a civilian were killed during a gunfight between the terrorists and the security forces in Anantnag.
In recent months, Jammu has seen an increase in terror attacks, including an assault on an army convoy in Kathua and skirmishes in Doda and Udhampur.
In July, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) reported to the Lok Sabha that 28 people, including civilians and security personnel, were killed in 11 terror-related incidents and 24 counter-terror operations up to July 21 this year.
