A lecture on “Government Schemes for Welfare of Gujjar and Bakkarwals Community” was conducted by Indian Army at Youth Centre, Kulali in Poonch district.
The aim of the lecture was to spread awareness amongst the people of Traranwali and adjoining villages about various welfare schemes being run by Government of India such as ‘Atal Pension Yojana’, ‘Bachat Lamp Scheme’, ‘Central Govt Health Scheme’, ‘Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme’, ‘Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana’, ‘Digital India Programme’, ‘Gramin Bhandaran Yojana’, ‘Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana’, ‘Pradhan Mantri Matriva Vandana Yojana’, ‘Integrated Child Development Service’, ‘Integrated Rural Development Program’ etc. The audience were also made aware about the procedures for applying for these schemes and getting benefited.
Off late it was realised that due to no or poor mobile and internet connectivity in the far-flung regions, the citizens are not been able to get the updated information about various welfare schemes planned for them. Thus, these people, despite of being deserving, are not been able to reap due benefits.
Large number youth and other prominent civilians of Kulali as well as adjoining villages participated in the event. The initiative was appreciated by the locals and they expressed their gratitude for the knowledge imparted to them. Such events definitely have a lasting impact on populace of remote areas as they increase their awareness towards knowing their rights in a democratic society.
