With an aim to bring in communal harmony and inculcate sportsman spirit amongst the youth of Rajouri district a Cricket Tournament was held from 27 Sep to 01 Oct 18 by the Army.
The event assisted the Army’s efforts to promote positive youth development through sports and provide a platform to showcase the hidden talent of local populace especially the youth.
A total of eight teams from various villages of far flung and remote areas of Rajouri district participated in the tournament on league cum knock-out basis. Sialsui team was eventually adjudged the champion team after beating Dali team in a keenly contested match. Cricket being one of the most popular sport amongst youth of Jammu and Kashmir, the event witnessed an over whelming response both in participation and spectators. Over 162 locals from a number of remote villages in Rajouri, turned up to witness the final match, which was a heartening sight for such a remote area of the state and symbolises love for sports as also the feeling of bonhomie amongst the locals.
All the participating team members displayed excellent sportsman spirit during the conduct of the tournament. The Sarpanch and elders of the village expressed their gratitude towards the Army in its endeavours to motivate the youth of the region and bring in bonhomie.
