Army organised ‘Inter Village Dangal Competition at Sewa Gosti

JAMMU, Sept 26:
The Army has been constantly undertaking a variety of projects for welfare and motivation of the locals. Army in continuing its efforts to achieve the aim of youth guidance and motivation, organised a one day ‘Inter Village Dangal Competition’ at Sewa, Gosti.
Villages of Gosti are located in the remote part of Doda district which lack adequate recreational / sporting facilities for the youth. Due to steady decline in insurgency and prevailing peace, the local youth now are looking forward to participate in sports and leisure activities as it binds them together irrespective of their religious denomination.
A total of 56 wrestlers from Chiralla, Gundoh, Kishtwar, Ramban, Bhadarwah and Marmat participated in the competition.
The bouts were played as per existing rules on knockout basis. All the wrestlers participated with their true spirit of sportsmanship and displayed commendable skills and enthusiasm. Strength of approximately more than 2500 persons witnessed the event from several adjoining villages and township. The local youth were especially enthralled to see the sporting prowess displayed by the renowned wrestlers.
Army officials inaugurated the event in the presence of Army officers, Tehsildar of Chiralla, Sarpanches, school Principals, teachers, students, Ex-Servicemen and a number of local villagers. Civil administration appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army for promoting the sports and organising events which will promote sports in the region and further facilitate youth empowerment.
