JAMMU, Oct 19:
To reaffirm its commitment towards fostering peace and also to provide an impetus to the sporting talent in the region, Army organised a “Chenab Valley Cricket League” at Kishtwar from 05 to 19 Oct 2018.
The event assisted the Army’s efforts to promote positive environment to showcase the hidden talent of local populace.
A total of 23 teams registered from various schools and villages of remote area of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban to participate in the league cum knock-out basis. Cricket being one of the most popular sport amongst youth of Jammu and Kashmir, generated much hype and attracted huge audience.
The final match was played between District Q Club, Kishtwar and Asrariya, Kishtwar.
After a competitive and hard-fought game, the team from District Q Club Kishtwar won the final match by 7 Wickets. The final match was witnessed by huge number of spectators, apart from officials from civil administration.
At the conclusion of the league the winning team & runners up team were awarded with prize money and individual prize for best batsman and best bowler.
This initiative by Army was highly appreciated by the youth and locals who thanked for conducting an entertaining event.
