To provide quality medical care to the needy people and cattle of remote areas of Poonch district, Indian Army organised a ‘Medical, Dental and Veterinary Camp clubbed alongwith Ex Servicemen rally at Sakhi Peer Maidan, Mendhar.
Specialist doctors to include 01 lady doctor, a gynecologist, an ophthalmologist and a dentist provided medical treatment to the people and medicines were also distributed to the patients. At the outset a number of awareness stalls were placed to give information on Leprosy, HIV, Vaccination, hygiene and sanitation aspects to the villagers.
The ESM rally was conducted in close coordination with state administration and Zila Sainik Board, with the aim of addressing, grievances and anomalies in disbursement of pension, land and legal issues of Ex Servicemen and Veer Naris and providing them information about Ex Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS).
The event received an overwhelming response and approximately 26 Ex Servicemen and Veer Naries, 406 patients and 62 livestock from village Mendhar and adjoining areas benefited from the facilities provided. The seamless synergy between Army and Civil Administration, particularly medical department, provided a long awaited opportunity to the needy local population. The relentless efforts of the Army have been widely appreciated by the AWAM.
