Army on Friday paid homage to the jawan martyred in Kishtwar gunfight here at a wreath laying ceremony.
“In a solemn wreath laying ceremony, Chief of Staff @WhiteKnight_IA paid tribute to #Braveheart Sep Gaykar Sandip Pandurang, who made the supreme sacrifice in the finest traditions of the #IndianArmy,” White Knight Corps posted on X.
His courage and #sacrifice will inspire generations of soldiers, it posted.
Sepoy Pandurang was a resident of Karandi village, Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra and was serving in the 17th Rashtriya Rifles deployed in Kishtwar district.
A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists on Thursday in Singhpora area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A soldier suffered critical injuries and succumbed later.
