Arrest Munmun Dutta trends on Twitter after the actress uses casteist slur in a video, shares clarification note

Munmun Dutta is famously known for her character Babita Ji from the popular TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Well, apart from her beauty, the actress also runs her Youtube channel where she shares Vlogs related to make-up tips and her daily routine. Recently,  #ArrestMunmunDutta trended on Twitter after her video went viral where she insulated a particular community. Her casteist slur takes the internet by storm and after facing huge criticism, the actress comes forward and shares a clarification note. She clarified, it was just a language barrier due to which people misjudged the meaning of the word. In the apology note, Munmum Dutta wrote, ”This is in reference to a video that I posted yesterday where in one word used by me has been misinterpreted. It was never said with the intent of insult, intimidate, humiliate or hurt anyone’s feelings. Because of my language barrier, I was genuinely misinformed about the meaning of the word. Once I was made aware of its meaning, I immediately took the part down. I have the utmost respect for every single person from every caste, creed or gender and acknowledge their immense contribution to our society or nation. I sincerely would like to apologize to every single person who has been unintentionally hurt by the usage of the word and I sincerely regret the same.”Munmun Dutta marked her acting debut in Zee TV’s 2004 serial Hum Sab Baraati. Her first film role was in Kamal Haasan’s Mumbai Xpress. In 2006, she appeared in the film Holiday. Currently, she is acting in the Sab TV sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
