Art represents culture, heritage; needs promotion & preservation: Kavinder

Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta has asserted that art is an important component of the culture and heritage of any civilization and as such it needs to be promoted and preserved not only for the present generation but for the posterity too.
Kavinder was addressing a gathering after inaugurating an exhibition of Basohli paintings organized by Indian Art Centre here today. The paintings have been created by Babita Bhardwaj and Priyanka Chowdhary under the supervision of their teacher M K Vadera.
The former Dy Chief Minister said that this Union Territory has a unique and rich cultural heritage that makes the younger generation aware about their glorious ancestry and their cultural roots. He said that it is a matter of pride that Basohli paintings represent an inseparable part of the identity of Jammu region across the globe.
He said that there would hardly be anybody amongst the art lovers across the globe not acquainted with the miniature paintings of this region.
While a number of artists having kept this valuable art of Basohli paintings alive have achieved immortality through their paintings, now it is the aspirants from the present generation to come forward in this all important field of art which is in great demand globally. He said that his party as well as the Government at the Centre is fully committed to provide full support to the endeavours initiated to preserve and promote art, culture and heritage.
Kavinder congratulated the budding painters in making selfless efforts to promote this precious art form despite all odds. He also wished M K Vadera all the best in pursuing the endeavour in mission mode in future especially by training the youngsters in this precious world acclaimed art of Jammu.
