Arushi of BSF, Ifra of Heritage win Girls Chess titles

JAMMU, Apr 20:
Arushi Kotwal of BSF School and Ifra of Heritage School bagged under-17 and under-14 chess titles respectively in the inter-school district level competitions of Jammu, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in the under-17 final, Arushi trounced Malika of Heritage School while Ifra defeated Parul of GD Goenka to claim the under-14 title.
Meanwhile, the under-17 girls Table Tennis title went to Presentation Convent, who beat GD Goenka team 3-1. In the semifinals, GD Goenka defeated Heritage 3-2 and Presentation Convent outplayed Delhi Public School (DPS) 3-2.
In all, 1200 girls drawn from 14 zones of Jammu district took part the two-day competition.
The winners and runners-up were congratulated by district officer (DYSS) Jammu, Chanchal Kour and advised them to work hard to attain desired goals.
Today’s events officiated by the technical penal comprising Sanjay Khajuria, Vikram Jamwal, Vishal Bharti, Tarun pal Singh, Amit Kalsi, Kamal Singh, Sunil Kumar, Neelu Jawalia, Sandeep Khadotra, Gourav Sharma, Gurbachan Singh, Anil Dogra, Ravinder Singh, Raman Sharma and Nitin Sethi.
