JAMMU, Sept 20:
The ASCOMS retained the women’s annual inter-college Badminton trophy after they defeated the combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of JU in the final played at Gymnasium on the campus, here today.
The ASCOMS women clinched the title in straight games without facing any resistance from PG.
In the singles, Akansha Sharma outplayed Meetali Manhas in straight easy sets 21-12, 21-10. Later, in the doubles, Aayushi Jani and Ritwika Sharma outplayed the duo of Meetali Manhas and Amrita Sharma 2-0 21-12, 21-13.
The title trophy presented to the winners, ASCOMS by Dean Placement, JU, Prof. Deepankar Sen Gupta who was chief guest in the final. He was accompanied by Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU, Dr Daud Iqbal Baba. Among other present were Dr. Shashi Kant Goswami, Romesh Mangotra, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Jai Bharat, Harvinder Pal Singh, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar and Vikram.
The final officiated by the technical penal comprising of Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma, Jeevan Lal, Gourav Jamwal, Gourav Raina and Narainder.
