Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development projects worth Rs 6,100 crores during his one-day visit to his home constituency of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.
Speaking at the event, PM Modi said, “Today is a very auspicious day for Kashi,” highlighting that projects have been launched across various sectors that will enhance facilities and create new employment opportunities for the youth.

foundation stones have been laid here. Today, different airports have been inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh,” PM Modi said.
“Overall, today Varanasi has received projects in every field–education, skill development, sports, health, and tourism. All these projects have brought facilities and many new employment opportunities for our youth,” he added.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present at the event.
CM Yogi described PM Modi as the leader of New India, saying, “As the leader of New India, PM Narendra Modi represents the country from UP’s Varanasi. The whole country and the world are witnessing a transforming Varanasi that is preserving its spiritual and cultural heritage.”
He also noted, “In the last 10 years, projects worth Rs 44,000 crores have been approved for Varanasi. Today, Varanasi is receiving projects worth Rs 3,200 crores as a gift before the festival of Diwali from the PM.”
Earlier on Sunday, PM Modi inaugurated the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital in Varanasi and visited the exhibition about the new state-of-the-art facility, which has a capacity of 225 beds.
The hospital is designed to serve patients from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh and will offer comprehensive consultations and treatments for various eye conditions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital in Varnasi stating that the facility is blend of spirituality and modernity and that it will serve the elderly as well as the children.
He further said that the hospital situated in Hariharpur will provide employment to youth.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present at the event in his parliamentary consitituency of Varanasi also known as Kashi.
He noted that Kashi has witnessed major helathcare reforms in the past ten years and is becoming a major healthcare hub.
“Kashi has been known as the capital of religion and culture since time immemorial. Now, Kashi is also becoming a major healthcare hub and medical centre of UP’s Purvanchal region. Be it the trauma centre in BHU, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, or the establishment of medical colleges, the past 10 years have witnessed major healthcare reforms in Kashi,” the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi added, “Curative healthcare is as important as preventative, which is why, today, in India, various Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs help in early detection and diagnosis of disease. We are creating a network of ‘Critical care blocks’ and modern labs.”

The PM also visited the exhibition about the new state-of-the-art eye hospital with a capacity of 225 beds. It is designed to serve patients from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh.

CM Adityanath also spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the Eye Hospital in Varanasi, saying, “I welcome everyone at the inauguration of RJ Shankara Eye Hospital…Kashi is growing every day. several developments have been made here…”
