National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Government College of Education in collaboration with and Government Medical College organized awareness campaign with an objective to encourage students for voluntary blood donation.
Prof Sangita Nagari, principal of the college was chief guest while Dr Meena Sidhu , HOD, GMC was resources person on the occasion.
“Every individual should understand the importance of blood donation,” Prof Sunita Devi NSS programme officer said while delivering welcome address. She also apprised audience about the programme. The principal of the college, motivate youngsters to become active blood donors and sale precious lives. Ashwani Sandhu, founder of KP blood bank cleared all doubts and myths regarding bold donations. Dr Meena Sidhu of GMC&H said, “Donating blood has become a habit among many families and we have several examples where all family members above 18 years of age donate blood regularly.”
“We have been discussing the importance of voluntary blood donation everywhere and a change has been witnessed in the attitude of people and now more people are willing to participate in blood donation camps,” she said. Youngsters, too are becoming sensitive over the issue and youths, especially college students, have assured health officials to participate blood donation.
