Awareness program on PCPNDT Act held at AWC Nagrota

Reinforcing its commitment to women’s empowerment and social justice and effective implementation of BBBP initiatives, Mission Shakti SANKALP HEW Jammu took a proactive step by organizing a high-impact awareness programme on the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act at the Anganwadi Centre in Nagrota. The initiative further solidified Mission Shakti’s role as a champion of women’s rights and gender equality in Jammu.
The session, led by legal expert Advocate Kiran Thakur, provided a powerful insight into the legal provisions of the PCPNDT Act, emphasizing its strict measures against the misuse of ultrasound technology for sex determination. She elaborated on the stringent regulations for diagnostic centers and the severe penalties for violations, driving home the critical message of preventing female foeticide.
Beyond legal awareness, Mission Shakti SANKALP HEW Jammu seized the opportunity to educate women about an extensive range of welfare schemes dedicated to their upliftment. District Mission Coordinator Mission Shakti Shagun Manchanda enlightened the participants about flagship initiatives such as State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), Ladli Beti, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Old Age Pension, Widow and Disability Pensions, PMEGP, Tejaswini, and various skill development programs offered by RSETI and other training institutes.
The event was graced by key dignitaries, including CDPO Poshan Project Dansal Ranbireshwar Singh, Health and Nutrition Mobilizer Nazia Choudhary, and District Mission Coordinator Shagun Manchanda, who reiterated Mission Shakti’s unwavering commitment to empowering women at every level.
To further support and encourage maternal health, Mission Shakti SANKALP HEW Jammu distributed nutritional kits to pregnant women in the area, ensuring that both mother and child receive the necessary care for a healthy future. Baby kits were also distributed among new born baby girls. The programme was organised under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Jammu Mamta Rajput.
The remarkable initiative once again underscores Mission Shakti’s unparalleled dedication to creating a society where women are not only aware of their rights but also empowered to claim them. With every such effort, Mission Shakti continues to set new benchmarks in championing gender equality and fostering a progressive, inclusive community.
