Awareness Programme on AIDS prevention, substance abuse held at DISHA institute Ramban

Disha Institute of Paramedical & Nursing Science Ramban in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relation District Center today organised an AIDS Prevention and Awareness Programme to educate students and the wider community about HIV/AIDS prevention, early detection and the importance of adopting safe and responsible health practices.
The awareness programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who delivered speeches, presentations and thematic performances focused on dispelling myths, promoting awareness and encouraging a supportive attitude toward persons living with HIV/AIDS.
Their presentations highlighted issues such as the need for accurate information, preventive measures and discouraging stigma associated with the disease. A vibrant cultural programme presented by the students added color to the event.
The event was graced by the presence of the Medical Superintendent, District Hospital, Dr. Sudershan Singh Katoch as the Chief Guest and the Drug Control Officer, Imtiaz Ahmed as the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the Medical Superintendent emphasized the critical role of awareness and early testing in preventing the spread of HIV. He discussed the common modes of transmission, preventive strategies, the availability of treatment facilities and the significance of community-based health education. He encouraged the youth to become ambassadors of health awareness and to promote responsible behaviour in society.
The Drug Control Officer, in his address, spoke extensively about the growing issue of drug abuse, its direct and indirect relation to the spread of diseases, and the need for strict regulation and responsible behavior. He highlighted the importance of counselling, rehabilitation and collective action to curb substance misuse among the youth.
In his concluding remarks, the Principal of DISHA Institute, Hilal Wani expressed gratitude to the Information department officers, faculty members and students for their active involvement. He appreciated the Information Department for its support and reiterated the institute’s commitment to organizing more such awareness initiatives for the benefit of the community.
The programme concluded with a pledge to continue spreading awareness on health-related issues and to work collectively towards a healthier, informed and responsible society.
