A grand protest was organized by the residents of Bahu Fort, Jammu under the supervision of Sham Lal Basson Hon’ble Corporator W.No. 48 on 24th April 2019 at Boria Pumping Station Kalika Colony Gorkha Nagar, Jammu in which hundreds of people of Bahu Fort area participated.
While speaking on the occasion Sh. Sham Lal Bason said with heavy heart that people of Bahu Fort are facing scarcity of water for the last more than 56 years The people of this area are provided contaminated water for the last 3 years. The department failed to replace old damaged pipes. The PHE department is providing contaminated water on 3rd day in unscheduled manner. Most of the people especially ladies work in factories. Due to supply of water in unscheduled manner, one person per household has to remain at home. The water supply may be in the morning, noon, after noon or evening. Everyone will be astonished to this hard fact that people are suffering for want of drinking water for the last more than five decades.
Sham Lal Basson as Corporator has left no stone unturned for the supply of wholesome water on daily basis but PHE department never bothered to plug a small leakage of water. He moved from pillar to post to solve this problem but Department took it lightly. Today protest is outburst of anger of people in the shape of protest demonstration. The people were protesting and shouting slogans against PHE department waving playcards.
Sh. Bahadur Lal President Saryara Sabha Bahu Fort, Jammu also addressed the gathering and told the media persons that water from Boria pumping station is supplied to other areas like narwal, sainik colony but residents of bahu fort area has scarcity of water and also supplied contaminated water. Sh. Vaishno Kapoor President Dogra Sabha Gorkha Nagar also joined the protest.
Sh. J. P. Singh Executive Engineer PHE Deptt. Alongwith the staff of mechanical division negotiated with the Corporator alongwith team of protesters. He assured to take up the matter with higher authority so that people may not suffer for want of drinking water. The Executive Engineer J. P. Singh will hold meeting with Corporator and his team on 25th April 2019 to solve the issue of this burning problems of people of Bahu Fort, Area.
Sham Lal Basson told the media persons that he approached department from class fouth employee to Chief Engineer PHE. He also approached the worthy Chief Secretary regarding issue of scarcity of water. Hon’ble Advisor Sh. K. K. Sharma was also approached in this problem.

Sudershan Kumar, Mangat Kalsi, Suresh Kumar (Kala), Suresh Kumar (Rinku), Rajesh Kumar (Kala) Sanjay Kalsi, Babli Devi, Bimla Devi, Jeeto Devi, Anu Basson, Sandeep, Kamal Kumar, Vijay Kumar, (Nago), Hans Raj, Rajinder Kumar, Sham Lal Loach, Bodh Raj, Tej Ram, Ramesh Chander, Surinder Kumar Gulshan Kumar, Piare Lal, Rattan Lal, Jeeto Devi, Shamo Devi and others.
