Jammu, Feb 21 (UNI) Though it was an upsetting day for the cricket lovers as play on the second day of third quarterfinal of Ranji Trophy between Jammu and Kashmir and Karnataka could not take off due to wet outfield in view of overnight rains but a group of children had moments to enjoy with their favourite cricketers at GGM Science College and Hostel Ground here on Friday.
Due to wet outfield, the play could not be resumed on Friday morning, which left the visitors especially the cricket lovers dejected but the children of Narwal based Bal Gram—SOS Home—who were special invitees at the venue to witness the match, interacted with the cricketers, captured moments in their cell phones and also had lunch with their star players.
The children were invited by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association to witness the ongoing quarterfinal match.
The students interacted with International Cricketers like Irfan Pathan, Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, Parvez Rasool and others.
Excited students clicked selfies and interacted with them and they were also answered for the volley of queries they had.
The Cricketers motivated the children to work hard in life to achieve their goals.
Moreover, the students had also interacted with JKCA Team of administrators Justice CK Prasad, CEO Aashiq Bukhari and other senior members.
The students however, expressed, “we did not expect such a wonderful interaction as we have been at the venue only to watch the match and it is like dream coming true.”
“Shaking hands and sitting by the side of cricketers, whom we see only in our television sets was just like a dream coming true,” they further said.
Some of them also expressed with a smile that ‘no play’ due to wet outfield, turned out ‘blessing in disguise’ for them because they would not have been able to meet their cricket starts if the match would have been resumed in the morning.
