Oxfam Trailwalker, the biggest walkathon and fitness-fundraising event in our country, will be held in Bangalore between February 7-9, 2020. This will be the 9th edition of the event in Bangalore and will allow participants to traverse a scenic path as they walk for a good cause. https://trailwalker.oxfamindia.org.
In Bengaluru, the trail will start from the edge of a beautiful valley in the Nandi Hills and pass through more than 30 villages, from Sultanpet to Olde Bangalore Resort. There will be two trails – 50 and 100 kms.
The last Trailwalker was organized in Mumbai last December and saw people from diverse backgrounds come together to ‘walk the talk’. With a 70% rise in registrations since the previous year, the event in Mumbai saw more than 800 participants in about 200 teams standing in unison for an equal world. From athletes, CEOs and homemakers to fitness lovers and students, the theme for the Mumbai event was Equality4All and Oxfam truly showcased it in every sense.
Oxfam Trailwalker India is also the biggest team fundraising events in India. Last year, people raised over Rs 5 crores to contribute towards Oxfam India’s projects on education, health, gender, forest rights and discrimination in the six poorest states of India (Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh).
“It is our constant endeavour to push our limits with every event, and the response in Mumbai is proving to be a great motivation to keep going. The responsibility of standing up for what is right always lies with us and as conscious, privileged citizens of this country, we must act on it. Apart from using fitness as a reason to be part in the Trailwalker, I believe if we truly care for our fellow citizens, it is these small choices we make that can drive change in the nation”, says Oxfam India CEO Amitabh Behar.
Oxfam India has been organizing free-to-attend, training sessions in Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru for participants and others. Several participants from companies like Edelweiss, Tata Capital, Aditya Birla Health Insurance, L’Oréal have walked the Trailwalker. Corporate teams from Accenture, UPS, Technicolor, Thomson Reuters, Danone, Aditya Birla, CLSA, Hindustan Petroleum and Hindalco have also participated in the event.
Oxfam Trailwalker is an environmentally sustainable event. Rigorous impact assessments are done to ensure that the event is sustainable and the waste generated during the event is effectively managed. Over the years, Trailwalker has successfully developed into a top-notch international fundraiser, challenging walkers in 17 cities across 9 countries including Australia, Belgium, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Spain and the United Kingdom.
