The Committee of Administrators (CoA) governing the Indian cricket board has conveyed its displeasure to Virat Kohli over some controversial remarks he had made in recent times and advised him to behave with humility, according to a Mumbai newspaper.
Earlier this month, Kohli got involved in an unseemly controversy after he advised a fan to not live in India if he liked cricketers from other countries.
The newspaper report said that CoA has asked Kohli to conduct himself with humility in his interactions with the press and public. According to the report, a CoA member first sent a Whatsapp message to Kohli, advising him to be civil and courteous in his interactions. Later, this CoA member made a phone call to the Indian captain, asking him to “behave in a manner that befits the captain of team India”.
“He was told to be humble in his interactions both with the press and the public,” a CoA official was quoted as saying in the report.
Apparently, CoA members are concerned over the behaviour of Kohli during the series against Australia, a team with which Indian players have had a history of acrimony over the years.
