MUMBAI, APR 23
elecom giant Bharti Airtel is expected to report subdued financial results for the March quarter tomorrow. As per the early analysis, Reliance Jio is set to outshine Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular in the fourth quarter that ended on March 31 by reporting a net profit of Rs 516 crore.
Mukesh Ambani’s Jio is likely to benefit primarily from robust subscriptions from its loyalty programme, other telecom majors Airtel and Idea will continue to be stung by a mix of continued pricing aggression from Jio, a reduction in the international termination rates and more subscribers rapidly moving to lower priced bundled packs.
Precisely, the ARPU (average revenue per user) is silenced on account of renewed competition from Reliance Jio that is sure to impact its revenue in India.
Renowned brokerage firms, including Sharekhan and Kotak Securities believe Bharti Airtel may report losses in Q4 FY18 for the first time in more than a decade.
Sharekhan had predicted a net loss of nearly Rs 72 crore during the quarter under review. On the other hand, Kotak Securities claimed Airtel to report a consolidated net loss of Rs 380 crore.
Motilal Oswal predicted around 80 per cent yearly fall in net profit of the telecom giant in January-March.
The company had previously reported a net loss of Rs 7.07 crore in the third quarter of FY03.
