In an initiative to promote the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and other Horticulture schemes, Mission Director Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Rahul Yadav in presence of Director Horticulture Jammu, Chaman Lal Sharma, flagged off renowned environmentalist and cyclist Neeraj Kumar Prajapati, popularly known as the “Bicycle Man of India,” from the Directorate of Horticulture, Jammu.
This remarkable endeavour, designed to create awareness and encourage adoption of Horticulture and Agriculture schemes, involves a bicycle expedition covering over more than 1,100 kilometres across different districts of the Jammu region in a phased manner.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mission Director emphasised the transformative potential of such initiatives in enhancing the reach and implementation of government schemes like HADP, MIDH and others. He added that the event marks a pivotal moment in the promotion of government schemes aimed at improving the livelihoods of farmers and fostering sustainable horticulture practices. He further stated, “This campaign is a step towards reaching the grassroots level, enabling farmers to harness the full potential of these schemes and ensuring sustainable agricultural development in the region.”
Mission Director underlined the long-term benefits of this outreach initiative in enhancing the implementation of horticulture schemes at the grassroots level. He stated, “This initiative will not only improve the effectiveness of departmental schemes, especially HADP, but will also bring inspiring farmer success stories to light. These stories will be shared widely on social media to ensure they reach every corner of the country, encouraging others to adopt innovative practices.”
He further added that during this bicycle expedition, farmers would also be made aware of the “Daksh Kisan” program, empowering them with knowledge and tools to achieve excellence in agriculture and horticulture.
Director Horticulture Jammu, Chaman Lal Sharma, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the substantial benefits that farmers in the Jammu region have gained from the HADP. He remarked, “The HADP has significantly improved Horticulture productivity and farmers income and this initiative will further amplify its impact by creating awareness among rural communities.” Director Agriculture Jammu S. A. S Reen assured all help to the cyclist from the officers of agriculture department during the campaign to different zones of districts of Jammu region.
