After days of severe heat and dust, monsoon brings some relief and relaxation.
But, we cannot deny the fact that it also brings with it several issues like skin allergies, acne breakouts, frizzy hair and among others.
Drizzle can cause the formation of fungus and these bacteria multiply at a rapid rate in monsoon. The rise in the oil secretion in the body leads to skin and hair related issues. Thus, in order to get away from these ailments, one should always consult a qualified dermatologist instead of resorting to temporary remedies.
Skin allergies like non-bullous and bullous impetigo, fungal infections, continuous folliculitis, tinea capitis (fungal infection of hair) are rampant in monsoon. Diseases like nail infection, Athlete’s foot, acne, fungal infections, scabies fizzy hair, etc.
“During monsoon season, nails tend to become brittle and are at a risk of fungal infections. They become discoloured and dull. Also, wet socks tend to cause fungal infections in feet which makes it a painful disease,” said Dr. Rohit Batra, Dermatologist, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
Dr Batra added, “Also, dandruff usually increases during the monsoon season which leads to fungal infections. Use anti-dandruff shampoo and avoid putting excess oil on your hair as it will increase the problem of dandruff.”
In monsoon, the humid weather leads to continuous sweating which clogs up all the pores of your face resulting in unwanted whiteheads and blackheads. So, if you are facing similar problems every monsoon, then one should choose the treatments and the products correctly.
Dr. (Capt.) Deepti Dhillon, celebrity dermatologist from Appleskin clinic, said, “Exfoliation is mandatory in monsoon season. A lot of people tend to suffer from clogged pores and acne problems during this monsoon season. Here, skin becomes the germination ground for different types of bacteria. So make sure that you visit a qualified dermatologist for carbon peel and microdermabrasion every 15 days or twice a week at home. Also, one should choose gel based cosmeceutical products. This will help in preventing clogging of pores. Also, use moisturiser and sunscreens that have matte finish and have the lighter impact on skin.”
