NEW DELHI, APR 15,
On the occasion of 127th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the Congress accused the BJP of ‘eroding’ his legacy.
The party also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was merely paying lip service as his party and the RSS have an ‘anti-Dalit mindset’.
Addressing reporters, former Union Minister Kumari Selja also charged the Prime Minister with doing politics over the legacy of the Dalit icon.
On reservations
“The BJP and RSS have an ‘anti-Dalit’ mindset as their government has abolished the sub-plan for SC/STs, have talked of ending reservation and amending the Constitution which was framed by Dr. Ambedkar,” Ms. Selja said.
She said that BJP and its cadres tend to forget the views that RSS ideologues had about Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The Congress has kept the heat on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleging that he has been supporting Unnao MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is accused of raping a minor girl.
‘Sack Adityanath’
The victim’s father died in police custody after he was arrested following an attack on him by Mr. Sengar’s supporters.
“BJP leaders have mastered the art of ‘Extending State Protection to Rapists’, ‘Shaming the victim and her family’, ‘Defending the accused and crying conspiracy’, ‘Blatant Cover ups’, ‘Absolute Whataboutery’ & ‘Superficial Damage Control’— And the Adityanath Government has perfected this art to the hilt,” Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said.
The Congress has demanded that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should be sacked with immediate effect.
